Linda Ann Dennis

LINDA ANN DENNIS, 72, of Weirton, WV, passed unexpectedly Tuesday April 16, 2024. She was born April 10, 1952 in Steubenville, daughter of the late David L. and Lily Ann Winwood Knotts.

Linda is survived by her adoring family including her daughter, Lynsay Guida (Mike); son, Ryan Dennis; grandson, Vinny Guida; sister, Laurie Bertha (Jeff); brothers, David Knotts (Cynthia) and Tim Knotts (Pam); many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her beloved dog, Rosie.

Linda graduated from Weir High School, class of 1970; before pursuing her true passion and earning her Bachelor’s degree in Childhood Education at West Liberty State College in 1974. She taught for over 35 years in Hancock County Schools, most of which was spent teaching Kindergarten at Liberty Elementary School. She remembered all of her past students and loved running into them in town and catching up on their lives.

Linda was a devout Christian woman who was a very active member at Christ United Methodist Church in Weirton. She taught Sunday School and organized Vacation Bible School for many years. She had a deep love for her church and her church family.

Linda was a gentle, selfless woman who cared for all those around her. Whether it was taking meals to those in hard times, sewing hats and pillows for local cancer patients, offering prayers, and support to anyone who needed it. She loved planting flowers and was an avid bird watcher. It was common for Linda to rescue injured animals and nurse them back to health, typically syringe-feeding baby birds until they had the strength to thrive on their own.

Most of all, Linda loved her family and friends. She was a friend to all who knew her and touched so many lives.

Visitation will take place Sunday April 21 from 1:00 to 3:00pm and from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home, 380 Penco Road, Weirton. Funeral service will take place Monday at 10:00am at Christ United Methodist Church, 3598 Pennsylvania Avenue, Weirton, with Pastor Carol McKay presiding. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
